a few things I’ve learned and other random thoughts

by Vy on 12 April 2009

I went to an Easter potluck today hosted by the ever-gracious Lee family here in Prince George.  There was no shortage of great food and fun.  I brought chicken and pineapple fried rice, which I spent the greater part of my afternoon preparing.  I also took a lot of photos, none of which I can edit because I won’t have any software to edit it with until after April 25th.  Bah.

So a few things I learned today:

  • The value of a good set of kitchen knives
  • I hate dicing carrots
  • I still love photography
  • The Cadbury bunny clucks at you
  • Jewish people can’t eat ham
  • I need to get to know more Non-Asian Christian families so I can eat more of their food
  • I rock the Asian poses pretty hard
  • It’s nice to be able to relax and be myself and not worry about what everyone else thinks

Life is good and I have the God man Jesus to thank for it.

Happy Easter, ya’ll.

It's not that Jews CAN'T eat ham; it's just that, according to the Old Testament, they SHOULDN'T. Followed by Orthodox Jews, but all the ones I know love their bacon. ;)

Hahaha, I gotcha. I just mentioned that one because the one Jewish guy at the potluck asked if there was any ham in fried rice I made. They're also boycotting yeast for the week for the Passover. Strict stuff, man.

You have no idea. In truly Kosher houses/kitchens, milk and meat have to be kept separate. Like, not at the same meal, not in the same time frame, not even (in extreme cases) in the same kitchen!

I figure if God didn't want milk and meat mixed, he wouldn't have put them both in the same animal! :)
