Five reasons why I sometimes want to avoid praying:

  1. “I don’t wanna talk about it.”
  2. “Everything’s great–what’s there to pray about?”
  3. “This is silly.  Why would I waste God’s time praying about this?”
  4. “This is hopeless.  Why would I waste God’s time praying about this?”
  5. “Man, I’m just not feelin’ it today.”

For me…

4. REMIX: It won’t change anything.

Implication – prayer is about changing outcomes.
Reality – prayer is never first and foremost about changing outcomes.

You’re probably different than me though. You wouldn’t understand.

Yea, I’ve always struggled with prayer as a relationship…

Like “he’s my boss, this is our 10 minute morning meeting where I get a list of things to not screw up” starts to suck really quickly. Learning.
